William T. “Bill” Ward age 77 of Westerville died Friday morning Sept. 2, 2011. He was also a long time resident of Bryan and Celina Ohio.
He was born on January 5, 1934 in Decatur, Ill to the late Walter W. and Bessie (Daggett) Ward. A graduate of Millikin University with a degree in Industrial Engineering, he was employed by Pet Milk Inc. for nearly 40 years serving as a plant manager as well as engineer. He was a member of the Sunbury Christian Church, the Maroa Lodge No. 454 F&AM, Maroa Ill. And Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo.
Bill valued his church, serving as deacon and elder at the Bryan First Church of Christ. While living in Celina, he served as an elder at the Montezuma Church of Christ. Bill enjoyed his family and had moved to Westerville to be close to his granddaughters. Bill also enjoyed woodworking, completing several projects including a grandmother’s cherry clockcase. Traveling to various places, Hawaii, Europe, Panama Canal, Alaska and family camping vacations were other things that Bill also enjoyed.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Virginia (Anglin) Ward and they were married June 24, 1956 in Tuscola, Ill.; daughters: Deborah (Chris) Thompson of Westerville, Alison Dowd of Oxford; grandchildren: Emily and Maggie Thompson, sister: Barbara East of Moro, Ill.; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by son-in-law: Timothy Dowd in 2007.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury where services will be held Thursday 10 a.m. with Pastor Mike Bratten officiating. Interment will follow in the Blendon Central Cemetery.
