William Lyon, age 80, of Ashley passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on December 10, 1934 in Waverly, Ohio to the late Clifford and Goldie (Wheeler) Lyon. Bill proudly served in the US Army, stationed in Italy during the Korean Conflict.

Bill drove semi cross country for many years, first with Mathis Moving and Storage and retiring from Schneider Transport with over 1 million safe driving miles. He was a teamster and a member of the Ashley American Legion Post.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Janet (Willis) Lyon, whom he married on May 28, 1960; daughters Dalores “Dodi” (Matt) Andrews of Ashley and Sandra “Sandi” (Ed) Jones of Dublin; grandchildren Brandon Andrews, Trista (Chip) Crist, William Andrews, Janell Andrews and Dylan Jones; great grandchildren Cohen, Cadynce and Madison Andrews and Jarryn Hollingsworth; sisters Janette Boggs, Pauline Jenkins, Allene Hecker and Illene (Everett) Plummer; brother Stan (Billie) Lyon; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by three sisters.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at a later date.

  • Jan, so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed Bill when I would pass by walking my dogs. He always had a smile and ask how my husband was. I will miss seeing him sitting on the porch and enjoying the outdoors. We are only 2 doors down so if u need anything at all we will be there to help.
