William J. Hansen, age 79, of Loudonville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.  He was born on November 13, 1940 in Bellevue, Ohio to the late Art and May (Lutz) Hansen.

Bill and his wife Jeanine owned and operated Rainbow Springs Family Campground since 1991.  The campground was their life, and a lifetime of memories were created there.  Bill attended the Mount Vernon Baptist Temple in Howard, Ohio.  He had a degree in agricultural engineering from Ohio State and sold seed corn for many years as well.  Bill was an avid Ohio State Sports fan and loved watching his buckeyes play on TV.  Bill went to Thompson High School where he played on the basketball team, was president of their FFA Chapter and showed cattle at the State Fair.  His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and grandkids.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Jeanine (Allerding) Hansen; children, Bill (Kathi) Hansen, Aaron (Stephanie) Hansen, Melanie (Muriel) Taylor, Laura (Andre) Frazier; grandchildren, Bill, Nick, Michael, Adam, Samantha, Erin, Dylan, Collin, Kendall, Aislin, Lleyton; great-grandchildren, Seamus, Margaret, Alexis; a brother, Robert (Susan) Hansen; numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Bill is preceded in death by a brother, James Hansen; and a sister, Jean Montoya.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mount Vernon Baptist Temple; 21453 Floralwood Drive, Howard, Ohio 43028.

The Snyder Funeral Home-Lindsey Chapel in Loudonville is honored to serve the family of William J. Hansen.

  • I’m so very sorry, Bill was a great man and friend of mine. He will be missed by many as he had such a big heart and touched many lives. I know the world was a better place with him in it and I know we will all be back together someday. Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.

  • I have so many memories of the entire Hansen family. From 4-H to FFA to working at Rainbow Springs right after they purchased it. Melanie and Aaron were always great friends to me growing up and I cherish our friendship. Bill and Jeanine were always there for me and were great leaders and instructors. I will miss Bill dearly. Our class gathering in Bellevue on Bill’s birthday was the last time we saw him and he told me he was not retiring soon. We always shared the good times we had together whether playing on the winning basketball team or showing Guernseys at the Fair.   • Bill was so kind and such a hard worker. It seems like he never stopped mowing the campground during the summer! But he was never too busy to say hello or to visit a minute. He will be missed dearly in the “neighborhood.” We are so sorry for the loss of your loved one.
