William Dean Taylor, 87, a life long Galion resident, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at home.

Born April 7, 1923 in Galion, he was the son of the late W. V. Taylor and Vera Garverick Taylor. He was preceded in death on Jan. 21, 2005 by his wife, Wanda J. Greenfield Taylor, whom he married on August 15, 1942.

Dean owned and operated Taylor’s Sundae Shoppe in Galion for over 50 years. A graduate of Galion High School, he served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Surviving are one son, Dick Taylor of Galion; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Tom Mies of Galion; and six grandchildren, Hogan Taylor, Neally Mullins, Katie Moser, Colbey Mies, Rudy Mies and Gib Mies; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Taylor of Nevada, Ohio and his special friend, Mary Rush.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

At Dean’s request, no calling hours or funeral services will be held. He will be interred in Iberia Cemetery next to his wife. Arrangements are in the care of Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion.
