LEXINGTON: W. Jack Marlowe, age 78, of Lexington, died Sunday morning June 17, 2001 in Winchester Terrace Nursing Home following a long illness.
He was born June 19, 1922 in Mansfield to Ray and Rae Bender Marlowe, was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1940, and had been a lifelong area resident.
A U.S. Army veteran of WWII, Jack was a member of Robert L. Castor Post #5101 V.F.W.
A lifelong carpenter, Jack owned and operated Marlowe Tile & Marble Company for several years, and in later years had worked with J&B Acoustical.
An avid fisherman, Jack enjoyed oil painting, woodworking and creating pieces with stained glass.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Putney Marlowe; a son and daughter-in-law Jack & Cindy Marlowe of Conroe, TX; a daughter and son-in-law Sherry & John Wheeler of Newnan, GA; a step daughter and her husband Joyce & Randy Smith of Moore, SC; four grandchildren; and a great grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Helen McDermott Marlowe in 1965; and a sister Eileen Barber.
