Walter E. “Johnny” Ulery Sr., 89 of Sunbury, died Sunday morning October 12, 2003 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.

Born in Chesterville on May 22, 1914.

Preceded in death by his Wife: Bertha Irene Smith on October 20, 1982, parents: Clark Seward and Laura Beardsley Ulery, and Sister: Eve Wallace.

Retired truck driver after 40 years of safe driving, 26 years for Matlack, Inc. and 18 years for Buckeye Transport, a 50 year member of the First Baptist Church, Sunbury, and recently attended Grace Baptist Church, Delaware. Member Teamsters Local 413.

Survived by children: Evelyn Hipple (Tom), Hillard, John William (Janis),Charlotte, N.C., Walter Jr. (Pam), Delaware, Vernon (Judy), Ostrander, Steve (Melinda), Delaware, 17 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great-Grandson:Corey McVey, Sister: Edith (Earl) Williams, Ft. Collins, CO, Brothers: Leo, Marengo, Charles (Jo), Delaware, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury where services will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m., Pastor Corey Bane officiating, interment Sunbury Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Sunbury Townhall on the square.
