Virginia Dale Delong, 71, of Mount Vernon passed away on Monday morning, December 10, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on September 24, 1947 in Ironton to the late Golden Arthur and Hazel Jane (Ferguson) Thacker.

Dale was an STNA for over 33 years, serving nursing homes in the Columbus and Mount Vernon area.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Dale is survived by  the love of her life and partner for over 26 years, Thomas McFarlane; children, Anthony Ray (Leigh) Delong, Regina Lyn Roper, Bruce Elliott (Michelle) Delong, Ronald Scott Delong and Desa Rae (Dave Caridas) Coleman; grandchildren, Michael James Delong, Jennifer Lyn Delong, Christopher John Delong, Dawn Marie Roper, Claire Roper, Bruce Allen Delong, Jason Delong, Sissy Delong, Hayley Delong, Jessica Dale Nelson and Christopher Michael Nelson; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Sue (Steve) Galbraith; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Dale was preceded in death by a son, Charles Adam Delong; and sisters, Joann Kinney, Donna Harmon, Trudy Thacker, Wilma Jean Pennington and Patty Stone.

In following with Dales’ wish, there will be a private celebration of life service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Knox Community Hospital, Cancer Clinic, 1451 Yauger Rd, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 in Dale’s memory.
