Violet Ruth Tanner, 80, formerly of 331 6th Ave., Apt. 1003, Galion, died Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Village Care Center in Galion after an extended illness.

Born March 20, 1927 in Homestead, Penn., she was the daughter of the late Clair Todd and Anna R. Shulte Todd. She was preceded in death on November 23, 1972 by her husband, James L. Tanner whom she married on February 22, 1947.

She is a member of the Diamond Hill Cathedral in Mansfield. She was a computer operator for 15 years at the former Galion Iron Works.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James Ross and Margaret Tanner of Galion; one daughter and son-in-law, Judith Ann and Keven Blue of Richwood; four grandchildren and spouses, Anthony J. and Donalyn Tanner, Rebecca A. and Bob Matney, Lonnie G. Bunton and Rose M. R. Cyrus, three great grandchildren, Olivia Tanner and Abigail and Evan Matney and one sister, Clara Stanfield of Willard.

She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Tanner, three sisters, Henrietta Ingram, Elsie McDowell, Anna Jane Smith and 4 brothers, Elmer, Clair, Richard and William Todd.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, August 13, 2007 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2007 with Rev. Denise Marikis officiating. Burial will be in Crawford County Memory Gardens.
