Verl L. Wilson, 72, of Mount Gilead, died Saturday morning April 21, 2007 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on December 29, 1934 in Marion, Ohio the son of the late Bernard Lewis and Madeline Louise (Graves) Wilson.

After serving his country in the United States Army Verl started his employment with HPM. As an employee he held numerous positions from sweeping floors, to welding, operating the crane, and finally retiring as a truck driver in 1997; a commitment of 40 years.

He enjoyed fishing; taking several trips to Canada with his good group of friends. Verl also took great pride in taking care of his lawn and the growing of his garden.

You may remember “Mr. Wilson” hanging out at the Town Pump, shooting the breeze or instigating a good debate.

Verl also loved the time he spent with his grandchildren and is considered a friend of the Bryn Zion Baptist Church.

He will be missed by his wife Bobbie Robinson and their two children Michael Lewis Wilson and Patty (Tim) Hack of Mount Gilead; two grandchildren Katie and Kyle Hack ; a sister Geraldine (Paul) Bean of Cardington; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Robert and Dale Wilson.

Friends may call on the family on Monday April 23, 2007 from 4 -8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 South Main Street, Mount Gilead. Pastor Jerry Mathias will conduct services there on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lexington.
