Vaughn C. Wilcox

Vaughn C. Wilcox, age 97 of Marengo died at home late Sunday evening, December 2, 2007 following a one year illness.
He was born in Porter Township in Delaware County, Ohio to the late Winfield and Ruby (VanSickle) Wilcox, one of ten children. He moved to the Marengo area when he was eight years old. Vaughn was a lifetime farmer of grain and livestock, which included hogs and dairy cattle.
He was a longtime participant of both county and state fairs, beginning with his first Morrow County Fair in 1923. Vaughn won numerous awards for his Duroc Hogs with champions in three state fairs and was very proud of winning the award for grand champion Duroc sow at the 1966 Ohio State Fair.
On April 2, 1933, near Cleveland he married his wife of 68 years Margaret L. (Williams) Wilcox, she preceded him in death on September 28, 2001.
An avid fan of all sports, especially The Ohio State University football and basketball teams. A master of all trades, he enjoyed deer hunting and tinkering in his garage. He will be remembered for his honorable qualities and humble ways.
He is survived by Brother: Wayne Wilcox of Grand Junction, Colorado, numerous nieces and nephews, including special nieces whom cared for him Joanne Rausch and Genevieve Rogers of Marengo, as well as a community of friends.
In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by Brothers: Gerald, Carroll, Darwin, and Gale Wilcox, Sisters: Estella Van Sickle, Irene Thompson, Ruby Dell Flesher, Vera Rader, and a infant sister.
Friends may call Tuesday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 229 in Marengo. Graveside services will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the Marengo Cemetery with Rev. James Brantingham officiating.
