Lexington, Ohio

Valerie Renee Deel, 32, of Lexington, fought a long battle with cancer, Jesus called her to Heaven on the morning of Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at home surrounded by close family.

The daughter of the late Steve Deel and Donna Deel. Valerie was born on the early morning of June 5th, 1986 in Shreveport, La. and attended Clear Fork High School.

Valerie worked as a phlebotomist at OhioHealth MedCentral Hospital but she had many trades in the work field throughout the years. Her true passion was to help and care for others.

Valerie, much like her dad, Steve, was confident and spoke her mind but loved others beyond measure. Her hobbies included DIY crafts, shopping, makeup enthusiast, being outdoors and an animal and music lover.

She is survived by her mother Donna Deel of Lexington; Fiance’ Jessica Gonzalez of Ontario; furbabies Brutus Lee and Odie Angel Gonzalez; siblings Charles Justice of Lexington, Leigh Ann (Derik) Ryan of Arkansas, Jeremy (Tia) Justice of Louisiana, Donnie (Mallory) Deel of Michigan, Hilary (Nathan) Reed of Lexington; nieces and nephews Damion, Lindsay, Olivia, Derik, Dallas, Maya, Ezrin, Mitchell, Max, Brees, Allie and Poncho.

She was preceded in death by her dad.

A Celebration of Life service for Valerie will be held at a private location with the loved ones who were there with her during the battle with cancer; with the releasing of sky lanterns.

Valerie was all about family and quality time. That is what truly meant the most to her. If she could say anything to anyone reading this it would be to not take your family and friends for granted, to cherish each day with loved ones and to be there even when times are tough.

“The Lord protects and preserves them- they are counted among the blessed in the land- he does not give them over to the desire of their foes. The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.” (Psalms 41:2-3)

  • Val was a sweet girl, she came into the v.o.a all the time and always had a lot to smile about. She was very warm and friendly. I remember talking about all the extensions and wigs we could try on our hair cause I too have worn my hair both ways and I told her since I went to school for cosmetology I would do her hair for her sometime. Unfortunately I won’t get to do it for her now. She will be GREATLY missed.
