Mount Gilead and formerly of Prospect, Ohio

Una V. (Fowler) McCoy Tucker, of Mount Gilead and formerly of Prospect, died peacefully, Wednesday morning, March 26, 2014, at the Kindred Nursing Center in Marion, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

On December 14, 1942, Una was born in Mason County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Lawrence R. Fowler and Esther I. (Parsons) Gale.

Una worked as a cook at Bun’s and the Hilton Inn in Delaware, and as a dietician at Memorial Hospital in Marysville.

For many years, Una was a member of the Four Square Gospel Church in Delaware. She loved listening to gospel music and reading her Bible. When her health began to fail her she would watch Sunday church programs on television.

She loved spending time outdoors working in her garden then canning her produce. She also enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs, and high school football.

Family was very important to Una. She always looked forward to holidays and making a big dinner for her family as they gathered together. They enjoyed playing games and cards, mainly gin rummy and euchre.

Una was a most loving and caring woman. She was very unselfish, always putting her family and friends before herself.

She will be dearly missed by her two children: Robert “Joe” (Tami) McCoy of Cardington; Kelly (Lazaro) Bautista of Caledonia; six grandchildren: Matthew, Danielle, Robbie, Cassy, Jeanette, Braxton; a great granddaughter, Selena; three brothers: Charles Fowler of Mount Gilead, Bill (Tana) Fowler of Delaware, Arthur Fowler of Michigan; two sisters: Nina Lewis of Mount Gilead, Twilla Jackson of Cardington; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George F. McCoy; her second husband, John Tucker; and two sisters: Sandy Thomas and Fran Jackson.

Una’s family will greet friends from 2 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St., Mount Gilead.
