Tresa J. Smithhisler, age 85, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Country Court Nursing Center. She was born on October 15, 1933 in Mount Vernon, Ohio the daughter of John and Ina (Wery) Bowden. Tresa worked as a dedicated homemaker and mom, spending much of her time gardening for vegetables, canning, crocheting and giving guidance to her children.
Tresa was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother that will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children; Gary Smithhisler, Randy Smithhisler, Holly Sapp, Ann Smithhisler and Marcy Smithhisler all of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren, Kristen Sapp and Alex Sapp.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Earl Ray Smithhisler in 2008; four sisters, Eleanor Styers, Marjorie Tyson, Donna Jean Frost and Joan Smithhisler; five brothers, George Bowden, Raymond Bowden, John Bowden, Wayne Bowden and William Bowden.
The family will observe a private service and burial in Amity Cemetery. The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Tresa J. Smithhisler.
Memorial contributions in Tresa’s name may be made to Hospice of Knox County or the Knox County Humane Society.
