Shirley Ann Sayers
January 31, 1953 ‒ December 02, 2010
Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of 31 years, Bill, and her children Lizzie and Billy. Her dear mother Clara, sisters Dinah and Rose, and brother Rey survive her. Shirley was born on Jan 31, 1953 in Chandler, Arizona to Rey Ruiz and Clara Torres Ruiz. She grew up in Puerto Rico and New York City, graduating from high school in Puerto Rico, and attending college in Puerto Rico and at UCA in AR. Shirley worked in several secretarial positions, including assistant to the Plant Manager of the Federal Paper Board plant in Wilmington, NC which is where she and Bill met. During moves to GA, WI and AR with Bill and his work, she moved into sales as owner of BasketTreats, a home gift basket business, manager of a NutriSystem store, and sales representative for Pager Depot for the entire state of Arkansas. She was active in volunteer work, including managing the Spring Fling carnival at JLM grammar school to a record profit and interpreting for various groups. Illnesses slowed Shirley’s activities in the last several years, so she concentrated her efforts in supporting her congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses with active study and meeting participation and regular telephone witnessing.
Shirley passed away on Dec. 2, 2010.
Shirley was loved by many and will be missed by all.
