Scott Allen Finley

BELLVILLE: “Name that tune!” Scott Finley loved music, and anyone who knew him, had been asked that same question many times. From bluegrass, country, to classic rock, Scott not only appreciated, but also had a great ear for music. A man content to be with family and friends, Scott was aware of the true treasures in his life.
Scott Allen Finley, of Bellville, passed away April 30, 2014 from an apparent heart attack while driving his truck on State Route 13, south of Bellville. He was 51.
The son of Karl and Carolyn (McLaughlin) Finley, Scott was born May 19, 1962 in Mansfield.
Scott graduated from Lexington High School and while in school, he attended Pioneer Career and Technology Center, which is where he first met Terri Moore. The two were married June 23, 1984.
Scott worked numerous jobs over the years. First for Stoodt’s Market in Bellville and for over 25 years worked for Fast Eddie’s Pizza in Bellville.
He was a member of the sons of American Legion Post #535 and Amvets Post #43.
He loved tinkering and worked on anything that had a motor. A Harley Davidson kind of guy, Scott appreciated his Kawasaki motorcycle. He always looked forward to rides on the lawn mower with his grandson Cameron.
He is survived by his loving wife Terri Finley of Bellville; son Joshua (Jennifer) Finley of Fredericktown; grandson Cameron Allen Finley; mother Carolyn (Rodney) Shofner of Mansfield; grandfather Don McLaughlin of Fredericktown; mother-in-law Evalyn Moore of Shelby; brothers and sisters-in-law Tom (Sylvia) Moore of Noblesville, Indiana, Denise (Mike) Brickley of Shelby, and Jeff Moore of Shelby; nine aunts and uncles; and several friends that were as close as brothers.
He was preceded in death by his father Karl Finley; grandparents Karl E. and Mary Finley and Goldie McLaughlin; father-in-law Carl Moore; seven aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 4-7pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 7 pm. Scott’s uncle, Pastor Charles Barnhill will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Snyder Funeral Homes, to assist the Finley family with funeral expenses.
