Sarah Helen Van Hook

BELLVILLE: Sarah Helen Van Hook, Bellville resident, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 25, 2014 in Country Meadow Care Center with her daughter close by. She was 88.

She was born March 3, 1926 in Miami, FL the only child of parents Eathel & Bertha (Taylor) Adams. Sarah married James Herbert Van Hook in Georgia and they enjoyed a happy marriage until he passed away in 1970.

Sarah retired as a bookkeeper and enjoyed 18 years of retirement.

In spare time, she took pleasure in crafting, sewing, fishing, and gardening. Sarah had a special gift for creative writing and even held a class at the Lexington Senior Center where she also volunteered part-time.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law: Cheryl Brooks of Pennsylvania, and Margaret & Bob Coursen of Bellville; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a son J. Martin Van Hook.

Although no public service will be held in Sarah’s memory, her family hopes that you will remember her in your own special way. A private family graveside service will be held in Bellville Cemetery.
