Sandra K. Sand

October 06, 1943 ‒ August 16, 2017

Lexington, Ohio

Sandra K. Sand passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in her Lexington home surrounded by her family. She was 73.

She was born October 6, 1943 to parents Alfred Purcell & Bonnie (Coplen) Dockery in Flint, Michigan. Sandra graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1962, and married Stephen L. Sand not long after on May 4, 1963. They shared 35 wonderful years of marriage until he passed away in 1998. They are together again.

Sandra spent many hours quilting, and walking 3 miles a day (rain, snow, or shine) collecting cans along the way. But above all, Sandra cherished spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

She is survived by her son Steve (Lisa) Sand Jr. of Lexington; daughter Shelley (Nils) Larson of Lexington; brother Robin (Debbie) Dockery of Florida; sister Shawn (Pam) Dockery of Mentor; grandchildren Kyle (Alese) Sand of Shelby and Lindsay Sand of Lexington; great granddaughter Sage Noel Sand; and extended family Lori Owens, Leisha Sobcsyk, and Corey Owens.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother Mark Purcell.

Although no public service will be held in Sandra’s memory, her family hopes that you will hold her in your hearts or with a smile on your lips as you remember her in your own special way.

Snyder Funeral Homes is honored to serve Sandra’s family and encourage you to share a fond memory or message of condolence to them at
