Samuel Alfred Humphreys, age 80, of Marion, passed away at 1:45 am July 9, 2018 at the Community Rehab and Care Center in Marion, Ohio after a brief illness.

Sam was the twelfth child of the late Jerry Humphreys and Kathryn (Miller) Humphreys Christian.  He was born in Coalton, Ohio April 29, 1938.

Sam belonged to the Marion Moose Lodge 889 and the American Legion Post 584.  Same had also served in the Marines. Sam enjoyed fishing and playing Santa Claus.  He will be missed by his family and friends.

Sam is survived by his wife, Betty (Claypool) Humphreys of fifteen years and daughter, Jerralyn (Hunter) Hudgins along with three grandchildren.  Also surviving is one brother, Bob (Karen) Humphreys of Jackson, Ohio, nieces and nephews Brenda Willis, Deonna Craul, Regina Hannon, Kathy Sahle, Renee Kiern, Kelli McGhee, Mary Jones, Pam Bentley, Kathy Burchett, Tom Humphreys, Kevin Humphreys, Jerry McGinnis, Owen Clark, Christina Newell, Yvonne Ellis, Jerry Humphreys, Johnny Sharrock, Mark, Eric and Steve Filsinger.  Three stepsons, Harold Alvin and Tommy Claypool; brothers-in-law, Lee Taylor and Bill Filsinger; and several great nieces and nephews also survive.

Sam was preceded in death by daughter, Jodie Lynn Humphreys; four brothers, Lewis, (Marie) Humphreys, Thomas (Deloris) Humphreys, Bill (Mary) Humphreys, Frank (Josephine) Humphreys; six sisters, Wanda (Cletus) McGinnis, Helen Adkins, Betty (John) Sharrock, Irene Taylor, Wylodine Moore-Combs, Kathryn Filsinger; nephew, Chad Humphreys; and stepson, Harvey Claypool.

Graveside services will be held at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
