Ruth M. Dietz, age 76 of Delaware died Tuesday evening, March 5, 2002 at Grady Memorial Hospital.

She was born Oct. 3, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late William and Catherine (Corrigan) Halligan. Ruth moved to Delaware in 1996 from Powhatan Point, to be with her daughter in Delaware. She lived the majority of her life in the Cleveland area and retired in 1981 after working 25 years as a Title Examiner for Chicago Title in Cleveland.

Attended the St. John’s Catholic Church in Powhatan and was a member of the Powhatan Senior Citizens. She was very proud of her 3 children, enjoyed working at her career, gardening, her pet cat; Bootsy, and fishing along the Ohio River with her grandchildren.

Survived by Daughters: Carolyn (Loyd) Gallaher of Delaware, Kathleen (Perry) Mathers of Powhatan Point, Son: Jim Dietz of Dillon Beach, CA, 4 Grandchildren, 5 Great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, Brothers: Jack Halligan of Sacramento, CA, William Halligan of Bay Village, Sister: Jane Halligan of Vermilion.

Preceded in death by Brother: Jimmy Halligan and Sister: Mildred Beemer.

Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (SR 36), Delaware, where funeral services will be held Friday 9:00 a.m., Pastor Daryl Brown officiating. Interment Cheshire Cemetery.
