MANSFIELD: Ruth Finfgeld Winters of Mansfield passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013.

Ruth was born January 1926 in Mansfield, Ohio to Louis and Frances Finfgeld. She was the youngest of six children.

Ruth lived in Mansfield all her life. Many friends and acquaintances were drawn to her through employment at North American Knitting Mill, Montgomery Wards, H.L. Reed, Ohio Brass, and Tappan Company. She was anxious to help anyone and was an avid volunteer. She was a lifetime member of Main Street United Methodist Church.

Her pleasures in life were family, hosting Christmas Eve, dancing and holding the newborn babies. She also enjoyed traveling with the “Golden Girls” and playing cards.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Winters; parents Louis and Frances Finfgeld; brothers Carl, Robert and Ralph “Jack” Finfgeld; sisters Delephine Kelly and Mary Jane Schaefer-Farley; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Dorothy (Hayden) Winters.

Ruth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Shelley (Winters) and Richard “Boomer” McWhorter of McCormick, South Carolina, a son and daughter-in-law Bryan and Kay Winters of Ravenna, Ohio; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday, July 29, 2013 from 10 am to 12 noon in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the Celebration of Life service will be held at 12 pm. The Rev. Allen Rose will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park on Park Avenue West.

In lieu of flowers, Ruth asked for you to do a good deed, showing kindness and a smile to one another.
