Ronald G. Garrad, 72 of Mt. Vernon, Ohio passed away Thursday May 28, 2009 at his residence.
He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Ron enjoyed traveling, fishing and sports and was definitely an OSU fan.
He is survived by his wife and primary care giver; Margaret Garrad of Mt Vernon, other care givers include Daughter-Kimberly Garrad-McDowell and husband Ruskie from Mt. Vernon and Son-Steve Garrad and wife Michelle from Mt. Vernon. He is also survived by Step-son-Kelvin Armstrong and wife Sharry from Danville, Step-son-Dean Flecknoe from Atlanta and Step-daughter-Kimberly Bowers and husband Chuck from Kentucky.
One sister-Mary Ellen Hart and husband Jim from Modesto, California, Two brothers-Dale Garrad and wife Bobbie from Goshen, Ohio and Larry Garrad and wife Judy from Modesto, California. Eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ron was preceded in death by his first wife Arlene, California, son-Ronald G Garrad Jr., California, great grandson-Nicolas Joseph Bales, Mt Vernon, brother-Jim Garrad, California, mother-Harriett Garrad, California, father-Clarence Garrad, Columbus, stepson-Rodney Armstrong, Mt. Vernon and step-granddaughter-Katelyne Margaret Bowers, Mt Vernon.
Friends may call Saturday May 30, 2009 from Noon until 2pm at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home 619 East High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050, where funeral services will be held at 2pm with Rev. Duane Kramer and Rev. Daniel Monk officiating. Burial with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
