Robert N. “Bob” Butcher Jr., age 91, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Laurels of Mount Vernon. He was born on November 23, 1927 in Brandon, Ohio the son of Robert N. and Cecil (McClintick) Butcher Sr.   Robert retired in 1976 after 30 years of employment as an order clerk for Pittsburgh Plate Glass.  He was a member of the Newark Road Church of Christ.

Robert was an outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He was also a historian and farmer that led to his interest in antiquing, auctions and hunting for arrowheads on his farm.

On September 8, 1947, Robert married the love of his life, Hazel (Robbins) Butcher.  He was a dedicated and devoted husband, father and grandfather that took great enjoyment in his family and their activities.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years Hazel (Robbins) Butcher; two daughters, Patricia (William) Krempel of Mount Vernon and Nancy (Dale) Gallogly of Marysville; four grandchildren, David (Dorothy) Krempel, Tricia Zeiner, Rachel (Doug) Watson and Jessica (Chris) Adams; seven great grandchildren, Alexandria Krempel, Wyatt Zeiner, Gavin Zeiner, Madeline Watson, Evie Watson, Cole Adams and Liam Adams; a brother, Lowell Butcher of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Joyce Price of Belpre, Ohio, Margaret Bishop of Westerville; sister-in-law, Freda Chilcote of Bedford and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother Keith Butcher.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 beginning at 1 p.m. in Homer Cemetery with Minister Russell Howard officiating.  The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Robert N. “Bob” Butcher Jr.
