Robert L. Fry, age 72, of Harcourt Rd., Mt. Vernon, passed away Friday, March 19, 2004 at his home following an extended illness. He was born January 9, 1932 in Mt. Gilead, Ohio the son of Harry and Mary (Shira) Fry. Mr. Fry was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1951 to 1954. He retired from Columbia Gas Transmission Company in 1986 after 31 years employment. Following retirement Mr. Fry worked for Robertson Truck Sales in Mount Vernon for 5 years.

He was an active member of the First Church of God in Fredericktown and the Men of the Church of God.

Surviving are his wife Kay Ann (Peters) Fry whom he married June 23, 1972; his mother Mary (Shira) Fry Merriman of Mount Vernon; three sons Alan L. (Cheri) Fry of Danville, Robert A. (Pam) Fry of Heath and Benjamin Fry of Mount Vernon; his daughter Marcy Fry Young of Hebron; his stepson Perry Scott of Mount Vernon; his stepdaughter Sherry Scott Hinger of Mount Vernon; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and his brother Harry (Theresa) Fry of Huntsville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father Harry L. Fry and a son Leland Bliss Fry.

Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High Street, Mount Vernon where funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 AM with Rev. Richard Prater and Rev. Leon Hartwig officiating. Entombment with full military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
