Robert E. “Cooney” Doup

Robert E. “Cooney” Doup, age 79, of Fredericktown passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.

He was born on December 21, 1939 in Mount Vernon to the late George and Florence (Fletcher) Doup.  Cooney was employed and retired from Continental Can after 34 years of service.  He was also a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge #2555 in Mount Vernon.

Cooney is survived by his wife, of over 57 years, Hulda (Kuehn) Doup; his daughter Diane (Dave) Clippinger; his son Jeff (Brooke Henwood) Doup; two grandchildren, Allie (Clayton) Frost, Gracie Clippinger; his sister Georgene Ogle; and his brother Butch Doup.

In addition to his parents, Cooney was preceded in death by his brother Chick Doup; and his sisters, Mary Tanner and Nancy Doup.

In keeping with Cooney’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.  The family will observe a private service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to:  Knox County Animal Shelter, Knox County Humane Society, or Kindred Hospice.

The family would like to thank the Ohio Eastern Star Home and Kindred Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.
