Robert I. “Bob” Tanner Jr., age 65 of Sunbury, passed away surrounded by his family Tuesday July 12, 2016 evening at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus.
He was born on November 2, 1950 in Staten Island, NY to the late Robert I. Sr. and Janet (Evans) Tanner. He was a Vietnam US Army Veteran and a graduate of Franklin University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He had lived in the Sunbury area since 2004 coming from Columbus.
Bob enjoyed watching The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. He was known as Mr. Fix It and in Grandpa’s workshop he could take anything not working apart and put it back together and it would work. Bob was most proud of his sons and treasured time spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife: Nancy (Friddle) Tanner: sons: Joseph Robert (Carolina) Tanner of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, James Nelson (Juanita) Tanner of Columbus, Jeffrey Michael (Kathleen) Tanner of Columbus; 7 grandchildren; brothers: William (Patricia) of Westerville, Richard (Gina) of Danville, PA; sisters: Dorothy (Ed) Mete of Naples, FL, Suzanne (Michael) Wade of Middletown: many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury. Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Chapel in Resurrection Cemetery. Inurnment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery.
