Richard E. “Rick” Walton, age 65, of Mount Gilead, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at his residence following a battle with cancer.

He was born on June, 9, 1953, in Mount Vernon to the late Richard R. Walton and Norma J. (Dailey) Walton whom survives. Rick attended Highland High School.

For many years, Rick worked as an electrician for H.P.M.. He later went on to drive truck and man the store for Carter Lumber.

Earlier in life Rick enjoyed traveling of which a few of his stops were the Niagara Falls and the Biltmore Estates. Rick also enjoyed playing on the computer and watching videos of trains.

Rick will be remembered by his family and friends for his bubbly and friendly personality.

He will be dearly missed by his mother, Norma; sisters: Sharon (Carroll) Sears of Marion, Victoria Ruhl of Mount Gilead, and Pamela (Timothy) Ward of West Liberty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Richard; sister, Andrea Stitzlein; and nephew, Gary Sears.

A private service to celebrate his life will be held privately by his family.
