Richard E. “Dick” Darr, 69, of Butler, went home to be with the Lord, early Thursday evening May 12, 2016 at his home.

Dick was born in Mansfield April 4, 1947, son to Glenn and Mildred (Sheriff) Darr.

A United States Army veteran, Dick served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1968.

A man of many trades, Dick was a retired truck driver who enjoyed tinkering on cars and working on his cabin. He was a huge fan of Kyle Bush and NASCAR.  He loved listening to classic country and rock music.  Dick loved coffee, and never went anywhere without a full cup at his side.  He also enjoyed playing euchre.

Dick was a member of North Bend Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by his sister Dottie Darr of Butler, nieces Lorri (Jason) Homerick of Bellville, and Melissa (Jeremy) Moss of Fredericktown, nephew Jason (Jenna) Walters of Bellville; great-nieces and great-nephews Justin, Rebekah, Hannah, and Zach Homerick, Brandon, Karalina, and Miranda Moss, Barrett and Brinley Walters; step-daughters Pamm McDaniel of Butler and Penny Brown of Ashland.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Larry Darr and sister Joyce Walters.

His family will receive friends Tuesday May 17, 2016 from 12 to 2 pm and 4 to 6 pm at the Bellville Snyder Funeral Homes, where a memorial service will begin at 6 pm.  Pastors Patrick Bailey and Jason Snyder will officiate and full military honors will be performed by the Bellville American Legion Post #535.
