Rev. Dr. Connie M. Feightner, age 64 of Apple Valley, died Friday June 2, 2006 at the Laurels of Mount Vernon. Dr. Feightner was born August 7, 1941 in Humboldt, Tennessee to Connie and Norma (Bamberg) Martin. She graduated from Capital University in Columbus with a BA degree in Psychology and Religion and earned her Masters and Doctor of Divinity degrees from the Methodist Theological Seminary in Delaware. During her pastorate Dr. Feightner had served the Hilltop Christian Church in Columbus, the Bethany Christian Church in New Bern, North Carolina, the First Protestant Church in New Braunfels, Texas the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Vandalia, Illinois and the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Mount Vernon.
She was an active member of the Danville area Ministerial Association (ADAM), was a life member of MENSA and had served on several committees for the Apple Valley Property Owners Association.
Surviving are her husband John T. Feightner whom she married April 22, 1961; her daughter Kathleen A. Feightner of Hilliard; her son and daughter-in-law John W. and Lori Feightner of Utica; two grandsons Jonathan and Jacob Feightner; her sister Betty Fannin of Topeka, Kansas; her brother in law Richard (Connie) Feightner of Piqua; her sister-in-law Janice (Otis) Keller of Springfield, Missouri and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents her brother Larry Spellings preceded her in death.
Friends may call Tuesday from 1 to 3 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. A service giving glory to God and celebrating the life of Rev. Dr. Connie M. Feightner will be Wednesday at 11 AM at the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 110 East Vine Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050, with Rev. Jamie Gump officiating. Burial will follow at Mound View Cemetery.
