Raymond F. Harwood, age 85 of Delaware died early Tuesday morning, October 28, 2003 at Grady Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Sept. 9, 1918 in Windsor, Ontario Canada and was a US Army Veteran of WW II.

Ray married Rosemary H. (Haas) Harwood on April 2, 1945, she died Feb. 9, 1994. Ray and Rosemary operated the former Haas Dept. Store in Delaware from 1947 until their retirement in 1976. He later worked as a greeter for the Delaware Wal-Mart Store.

He was a devoted Catholic, very active in both the social and philanthropic activities of St. Mary Church. He was also an active member of the Delaware Lions Club and enjoyed baking cookies.

Survived by his niece: Leticia Follmer, Grand-nieces: Joy and Julie Follmer, and a great-grand-nephew: Drew all of the Cincinnati area.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary Church, Delaware, Fr. David Sizemore, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Delaware. Arrangements are under the direction of the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Delaware.
