Raymond “Alton” Walters, 66, of Chester Twp. Road 178, Fredericktown, Ohio died Friday, March 18, 2005 at his home.
He was born in Camp Dix, Kentucky on September 8, 1938, the son of the late Phister and Hazel (Stone) Walters. He graduated from Chesterville High School in 1957. Alton worked for Sims Fertilizer Plant for 25 years and then LPP Paving Company until retiring. He enjoyed carpentry, cutting firewood, and farming with his sons.
He is survived by his wife Jo Ann (Rogers) Walters, whom he married on February 24, 1961; three sons Dan (Denise Byrnes), Kevin (Melissa), and Bill (Lori) all of Chesterville, Ohio; a daughter Teresa (Jeff) Levering of Fredericktown, Ohio; seven grandchildren Whitney, Jordon, Chance, Dustin, Kelsey, Krista and Darcie; a brother Allen (Angie) of Lexington, Ohio; and a sister Janet (Norman) Brown of Bellville, Ohio.
Brothers Harry “Calvin” and Henry and a sister Beatrice Lewis also preceded him in death.
Pastor John Wiseman will conduct graveside services in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville on Monday, March 21, 2005 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at a luncheon following the service in the Chesterville United Methodist Church.
