Randolph Louis “Randy” Yahn

PERRYSVILLE: Randolph “Randy” Louis Yahn passed away early Saturday morning, October 13, 2018 in his home in Perrysville, at the age of 69 after a three-year battle with cancer (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia).

Randy was born on January 29, 1949 in Ventura, California to Bernadine and Louis Yahn. He was the second oldest of eight children and grew up in Warwood, West Virginia graduating from Central Catholic High School. He attended West Liberty State University and joined the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. He married Linda Louise Stillion also of Wheeling, West Virginia on August 31, 1974 and moved to Columbus, where they started a family. Following the birth of their first daughter, Miranda, they moved to Perrysville, to join Linda’s family working a dairy farm during which two more daughters were born, Angela and Elizabeth. In 1982, the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to pursue an employment opportunity. They bought a home in Broken Arrow and Randy worked for over 15 years at the Mazzio’s Restaurant Corporation as a maintenance engineer. All three daughter graduated from Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa and the family were members of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Broken Arrow.

In 2000, Linda and Randy moved back to Perrysville and found their ideal retirement home near Linda’s family. They have spent the last 15 years making it their own and over the years sharing their land with their dog, Landon, two cats, several horses, ponies, and goats. Randy worked in the office for Stillion Brothers Excavating until he retired in 2011. Linda and Randy took up square dancing and are members of the Johnny Appleseed club and served as secretaries for two years. Randy enjoyed sporting events especially softball and coaching his daughters and granddaughter. He found spiritual peace working outside in the woods and pastures on his property.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents Louis J. and Bernadine (Sweener) Yahn and his brother Raymond Yahn. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda (Stillion) Yahn of Perrysville; three daughters and sons-in-law Miranda and Heath Grimes of Broken Arrow, OK, Angela Yahn and Andrew Wagner of Upper Arlington, Elizabeth and Doug Poffenberger, Tulsa, OK; three grand-daughters Lydia Yahn (Angela), Esther & Penelope Grimes (Miranda); and twin grand-daughters due in February (Elizabeth);  three brothers Gregory and Germaine Yahn, of Greensboro, NC, Douglas and Cindy Yahn of Triadelphia, WV, Richard and Sylvia Yahn of Washington, PA; three sisters Christine and Christopher Minnich of Bel Air, MD, Mildred and Terry North Lithia, FL, Patricia and Gary Griffith Plano, TX; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Donald and Kay Stillion, of Perrysville and David and Sherry Stillion of Butler; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins across the country.

The Yahn family will receive friends Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 10 am  to 11:30 am in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home.  A   memorial service in celebration of Randolph Yahn will follow at 11:30 am.   Celebrant Dave Roberts will speak.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Pelotonia general fund benefiting The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.  Donations will be accepted at Snyder Funeral Home, make checks payable to Pelatonia.
