AKRON: Phoebe Hyde Moore, 82, formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully July 1, 2013 at Akron General Hospice in the company of her family.

Born to John and Florence (Sexton) Hyde on August 16, 1930 in Bristolville, Phoebe moved to Massillon with her family at an early age. After graduating from Massillon Washington High School, Phoebe received a Bachelor’s degree in teaching from Mt. Union College. Phoebe’s teaching career was spent in Brecksville and later Mansfield, from where she was retired.

A lifelong Massillon Tigers fan, Phoebe also loved her Buckeyes. Playing bridge, gardening, traveling, and her family rounded out an active retirement.

Phoebe is survived by her children, Jon (Lori) Moore of Mt. Vernon and Chris (Cindy) Moore of Akron, beloved grandchildren Christopher, Colton, Dylan and Cameron; sister MaryAnn (Earl) Henderson of Massillon; nephews Brian (Debbie) Henderson and John (Rhonda) Henderson and their families; cousins Doris Hyde, CJ (Tina) Hyde, Rob (Tonya) Hyde and their families.

In celebrating the life of Phoebe Moore, a memorial gathering will be held Friday, July 5, 2013 from 2-5pm in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Following services, friends and family are also invited to a memorial reception at Bucks Restaurant (192 East Main Street, Lexington, Ohio 44904).

Phoebe’s family would like to extend their most sincere thanks and appreciation to all of the staff at Akron General Hospice and ask that in lieu of flowers, donations to Akron General Hospice be made through the funeral home.
