Philip C. Rabel, 99, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, Apr. 29, 2008 at Crystal Care Center in Mansfield.

Born Aug. 31, 1908 in Richardton, N.D., he was the son of the late Anton Rabel and Barbara Naumann Rabel. He was preceded in death in 1996 by his wife, Ruth M. Tracht Rabel.

Philip was a member of First United Church of Christ in Galion and a member of Galion Elks Lodge 1191, Ritmans Club, Wooldbridge Woods Golf Club, Sons of Herman in Mansfield and Galion Country Club. He was a farmer, Industrialist and Entrepreneur. He worked 28 years at Westinghouse in Mansfield retiring in 1953. He was vice-president and co-owner of Rabel Screw Machine Inc. in Mansfield for 24 years retiring in 1977 and also farmed for many years.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews and his best friend, Katherine F. Zimmerman with whom he made his home.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008 with Rev. Samuel J. Buehrer officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
