Peggy E. Young

March 20, 1939 ‒ February 23, 2016

Mount Gilead, Ohio

Peggy E. Young, age 76, of Mount Gilead, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Woodside Village Care Center.

She was born on March 20, 1939, to the late Cleo and Mauldie (Dye) Hubbard in Swords Creek, VA. Peggy was the oldest of eight sisters.

On August 12, 1967, Peggy married Ronald L. Young Sr., whom she shared 35 wonderful years of love with until his passing on January 23, 2003.

Peggy started her career at North Electric in Galion where she met her husband, Ron. She later worked many years at Cosmos Plastics in Mount Gilead. For 30 years, Peggy was a dietary supervisor in the kitchen of Morning View Nursing Home of which she retired from. Over the many years that Peggy dedicated to working, she hardly ever missed a day.

As strong independent women, Peggy enjoyed keeping busy. She often was found in her yard taking care of her flowers and pulling every weed. Peggy also enjoyed mowing the lawn, keeping her house as clean as possible, drinking her coffee, and cooking. Her tater salad will surely be missed as well.

When she wasn’t keeping busy with chores, Peggy loved to spend time with family. Her sisters and she often went shopping together and even visited her hometown area in Virginia. Most of all, Peggy loved her children and grandkids. She enjoyed watching them in various sports and school activities.

She is survived by her sons: Ron (Tressa) Young, Chris (Kristin) Young both of Mount Gilead, and Allen Hubbard of Swords Creek, VA; daughter, Debbie Childers of Mount Gilead; step-daughter, Teresa DeLaCruz of Mount Gilead; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren with another on the way; sisters: Clarissa Young, Madeline Young, Delores (Bruce) Harris, Sylvia Lowe, Judy (Arnold) Bostic, and Valarie Breedlove; a special friend Chris (Doc) Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Lynn Hubbard.

Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, February 26, 2016, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel. A service celebrating her life will be held there at 11 AM, on Saturday, February 27, 2016, with Pastor Cory Schnuerer officiating. Burial will follow in Fulton Cemetery.

If desired, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Woodside Village Care Center, Activity Fund.

  • Debbie,
Your sweet momma was my roommate for a few days last November at Morrow Cty. Hospital. I have thought about her many times since then and I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember how gracious your mom was in the midst of suffering. Some people touch our lives for only a short time but leave a mark on our hearts. I am also glad that I got to meet you; your love and support meant so much to Peggy. Please know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

  • Peggy was my oldest sister. She was one of the best friends that I have ever had. Always there for her sisters and family no what was needed. She was a christian and we had many phone talks about the Lord. Her desire was to be baptized in Virginia ,her home prior to coming to Ohio and marrying Ronald Young, the love of her life, but was unable to do so due her illness. She will be dearly missed by her sisters Sylvia,Madeline,Valery,Clarissa Judy and Delores.”Only in God is my soul at rest; From Him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation,my strong hold: PSALM 62: 1-2 . Peggy now rest in peace.
