Paul H. Wolford, 67, of Lewis St., Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at his residence. Paul was born in Mount Vernon on May 24, 1939 a son of the late Paul H. and Marcella (Alberts) Wolford. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and was a lifetime member of the Amvets in Mount Vernon. Paul had worked for Chattanooga Glass in Mount Vernon as a nailer and also at the Amvets as the canteen manager. Paul attended church at the Jubilee Foursquare Church in Mount Vernon. He collected Depression glass for resale and liked to fish.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Juanita (Devore) Wolford, whom he married on December 23, 1959; caring daughters, Connie (Butch) Talbott and Beth (William) Royer both of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Sarah (Adam) Zuber, Samuel Talbott, Benjamin Talbott, Rachel Crim and Faith Crim; one great granddaughter, Callie Ackley; brothers, Joseph (Faey) Wolford and Ronald (Jean) Wolford both of Howard, George (Ellen) Wolford and John (Nancy) Wolford both of Mount Vernon; sisters, Millie (Carl) Boyd of Tennessee and Ottis Davis of Mount Vernon; sisters-in-law, Jean Wolford and Mildred Wolford both of Mount Vernon.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by infant sons, Gary Allan and Brian Paul Wolford; brothers, Arthur and Walter Wolford and a sister, Rosalie Emmert.
The family will receive friends at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2006 and then on Sunday, June 18, 2006 a funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Knox County Veterans.
