Patricia J. Baker, 78, of Mount Gilead, Ohio silently closed the door of life on Monday, September 22, 2003 in Riverside Hospital to finally rest in everlasting peace and light.

She was born in Swords Creek, Virginia on May 6, 1925, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Viola Davis Boyd. Patricia was raised in Sparta, graduating from South Bloomfield High School in 1942. She was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. For the past 18 years she resided in Phoenix, Arizona, returning to Morrow County two years ago.

First and foremost, Patricia devoted herself to her family. The simplicity, charm and sweetness of her character is deeply in their hearts and will continue there warmly as long as there is life within them.

She is survived by three daughters Vicki (George) Klima of Phoenix, Arizona, Patti (Thomas) Ray of Mount Gilead, Ohio, and Ria (Guillermo) Palomo of Phoenix, Arizona; a granddaughter Carla (Nicholas) Locher of Phoenix, Arizona; a brother Dan (Evelyn) Boyd; and two nieces Karen Boyd and Martha Bayley all of Bainbridge Island, Washington.

He husband Col. Raymond W. Baker, whom she married Sept. 29, 1944, preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1968.

Private family services with military honors will be held in the Kane Cemetery in Port Madison, Washington. Local arrangements are in care of the Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Gilead. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Morrow County. Condolences may be expressed to the family at
