Patricia Ann Jones, 84, of Mount Vernon, passed away August 3, 2019, in her own home with family by her side.

Patty was born on March 23, 1935 to the late George Wilson and Mary Elizabeth Fisher Davis. Patty was raised in the Chesterville/Fredericktown area and was a 1953 graduate of Fredericktown High School where she was a proud member of the band. Patty worked various jobs throughout her young life developing an appreciation for hard work and a commitment to self-reliance that was engrained by jobs at Beck’s Point Drive Inn and the Cottage Inn restaurant.

Patty married at age 18 and had four children that she raised as a single mom; employed as a teacher with Head Start in Mount Vernon. She excelled in this role, being ideally prepared by her personal experiences and values.

Patty unexpectedly met and married the love of her life, Lew Jones at age 40; they merged their families for the benefit of all. Together they loved and raised their 8 children in a home that they built with their own hands on Jug Run Road near Bladensburg.

Patty had a deep love and trust for Jesus, serving as a shining example of Christian values to all who knew her; displaying love, patience, kindness, gentleness, strength and joy. People knew she was a believer by her actions in making a difference in the lives of others. Patty was a member of the Mount Vernon Foursquare Church where she served in various roles and loved working with and teaching the children. Patty was also a long time volunteer for the Salvation Army and loved to ring the bell for the Lord.

Patty is survived by her children, Mary Jane (Haz) Hasenzahl of Richmond, VA; Carole Ann Miller of Mount Vernon, OH; David (Carolyn) McCoy of Mount Vernon, OH; Linda Jean Story of Maricopa, AZ; Brian (Jay) Jones of Findlay, OH and Jennifer (Tim) Houck of Carrollton, GA.; her brothers, Ray (Pat) Davis of Fredericktown and Roger (Jeannine)Davis of Westerville; 16 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren. Patty was predeceased by her husband Lew in 2011, her children Nancy Lynn Jones and John Jones,  a grandson, Benjamin Lewis Jones and a sister, Mary Lou Dumond.

Friends of Patty are invited to a funeral service on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 beginning at 1 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Jerry Morgan will be officiating.  Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

  • I sure loved Aunt Patty! She raised me most summers when I was growing up. I have so many great memories with her. She loved Jesus and I know she is rejoicing in His arms now and is no longer in pain.
    I want all of my cousins and my Uncles to know that I love you and sincerely pray for you all during this time. I have no doubt that Aunt Patty has that Unspeakable Peace & Joy now and I pray for Peace for you all.


  • So sorry to hear of the loss of Aunt Patty. She came to my little league games and cheered me on. I stayed with her the summer of “74” and she took me to my driving classes. After getting my license Aunt Patty and I drove grandpa’s Chevy to Wisc. She was like a second mom to us kids. She and mom were close, I hope they are together now. We will miss her, love to all her family!
