Patricia Ann Campbell Joseph

January 03, 1926 ‒ December 12, 2011

Venice, Florida and formerly of Mansfield, Ohio

VENICE, FL- Patricia Ann Joseph, 85, passed away on December 12, 2011, in Venice, Florida. The second of three daughters, she was born on January 3, 1926, in Dover, Ohio, to Robert and Pearl Horn.

Pat, as she was known to family and friends, graduated from Martins Ferry High School and attended secretarial school. During her Ohio years, Pat was active in the Junior Women’s Civic Club, the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.), the Bud and Blossom Garden Club, and the Venture Club of the Soroptimist.

In 1954, she married Mansfield native Charles R. “Chuck” Campbell, Marine veteran and insurance claims manager for the Westfield Company. During their twenty-two year marriage, they lived in Mansfield, Lima, Jackson, Gallipolis, and Chillicothe. Together, they raised two boys, Robert Randall “Randy” and Charles Richard “Charlie,” before Chuck’s untimely passing in 1977. As a family, they shared many adventures, camping all around the country on summer vacations. Pat often helped Chuck with his work. For instance, she accompanied him to Xenia in the aftermath of the 1974 tornado and was a steadfast assistant as he provided much needed claims assistance to storm survivors. Pat was by Chuck’s side during his unexpected illness and mourned his passing with the grace and dignity that exemplified her life.

Following Chuck’s death, Pat dusted off her secretarial skills and became a legal secretary to Judge William Moats in Chillicothe. Pat embraced the role and was an active participant in the Legal Secretaries Association.

In 1982, Pat was remarried to Robert F. “Bob” Joseph in Chillicothe. She cherished being a stepmother to Bob’s daughters, Elizabeth and Cathie, and grandmother to their children. Pat and Bob enjoyed many travels, including trips to France where Bob served during World War II, and spent their winters in Venice, Florida. There Pat found a welcoming group of Chillicothe friends who had also escaped the Ohio winters. She made Venice her permanent home after Bob’s death in 1999. Pat was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Chillicothe, and later Trinity Presbyterian Church of Venice.

Pat is dearly missed by her sons Randy (Patty) Campbell of Annapolis, MD, and Charlie Campbell of Fort Collins, CO; sisters Kay (Boyd) Montgomery of Sylvannia, OH, and Marilyn (Lou) Burns of Dublin, OH; stepdaughters Elizabeth (Bo) Fugazzi of Lexington, KY, and Cathie Dilley of Misawaka, IN; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 15, 2012, from 5-7pm in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where a celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

Randy and Charlie would like to express their gratitude for the loving and tender attention given to Pat by the staff of Tidewell Hospice, 220 Wexford Boulevard, Venice, FL, 34293. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations can be made to Tidewell so that they can continue to extend their compassionate care to others.
