Norma Marvin

December 16, 1922 ‒ June 17, 2019

Mansfield, Ohio

Norma L. Marvin, age 96, peacefully passed away June 17, 2019 in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born December 16, 1922 to parents Clarence & Winifred (Warner) Frazier in Mansfield. Norma graduated from Mansfield Senior High with the class of 1942.

On June 5, 1943 she married Harold Marvin and they were blessed with four sons: Keith, Lynn, Greg, and Mark. The couple enjoyed 47 wonderful years of marriage until Harold passed away in 1990. They are now together again.

Norma was a nurse in the Richland County Tuberculosis Sanitarium, later known as Richland Hospital, where she worked for over 12 years. She had a kind and caring spirit and she extended great love to her patients and her family. An independent woman, she was still living on her own and driving at age 96; she never lost her zeal for life!

In spare time, she enjoyed solving crosswords puzzles (which made her a wiz at answering Jeopardy questions) and playing card games like golf and euchre. Above all, Norma cherished spending time with her family and baking them delicious fruit pies. More than just a dessert, cooking each family member their favorite flavor of pie was her way of showing just how much she loved them.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Lynn & Dara Marvin of Mercedes, TX, Greg & Kim Marvin of Rio Rancho, NM, and Mark & Debi Marvin of Mansfield; grandchildren Tonya Marvin of Mansfield, Lara (Michael) Joyner of Rio Rancho, NM, Joe (Robin) Hermel of Mansfield, and Chris (Randi) Marvin of Mansfield; siblings Robert “Bob” Frazier and Phyllis Frazier both of Florida; dear friend Paula Harris; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, she was preceded in death by a son Keith Marvin and siblings Bud Frazier and Richard Frazier.

Norma’s final resting place will be beside her husband Harold in Mansfield Memorial Park in Ontario and a graveside service will be held 1pm Tuesday, June 25, 2019 with Celebrant Dave Roberts officiating. All are welcome to attend, please look for the green tent in the cemetery or stop by the front office to ask for directions.
