Noble T. Weir
June 25, 1918 ‒ February 21, 2005
Noble T. Weir, age 86, of Gahanna and formerly a 28 year resident of Delaware, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 21, 2005, following a brief illness and hospitalization at Mount Carmel East Hospital.
He was born in Xenia, Ohio on June 25, 1918, son of the late Burt and Myrtle (Dill) Weir. Noble was a graduate of Gambier High School Class of 1937. He was both a farmer and business man, owning a Studebaker dealership, “Weir Motor Sales” in Mount Vernon during the 1950’s. He managed savings and loan offices for City Loan/Commercial Credit in Lebanon, Findlay and Delaware, Ohio before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Kiwanis for over 50 years. Noble was also a member of and served as deacon at Calvary Baptist Church on Troy Rd. in Delaware, Ohio, a church that he was instrumental in founding as it started with Bible studies in his home.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Louise E. Weir, daughter, Krista J. (Kenneth) Ball of Gahanna, OH; son, James L. (Valerie) Weir of Indianapolis, IN; grandson, J. Shane Weir of Greenville, S.C.; granddaughter, Kelly Vaughn of Bloomington, IN.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Zaidah.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 – 8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Mazzie officiating. Burial will be at Union Grove Cemetery in Gambier, Ohio at 2:30 p.m.
