She was born September 1st, 1921 to parents Leo Clever & Esther Mae (Bowen) Baker in Perrysville. Not only were Nellie and Harold lifetime residents of Perrysville, but they also lived in the same home that Harold built for Nellie since 1948.

In spare time, Nellie took pleasure in caring for the birds and bird watching, especially hummingbirds. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and writing corresponding letters to family and friends. Nellie was a lifetime member of the Perrysville Presbyterian Church, where she was very active in all church groups and activities.
