Nancy Jane Powell Jordan

April 05, 1939 ‒ February 27, 2020

Fredericktown, Ohio

Nancy Jane Powell Jordan passed on quietly surrounded by family early on the morning of February 27, 2020.

She was born April 5, 1939 to Isaiah Douglas Powell and Roxanne Lawson Powell in Fulton, Ohio.  Nancy attended Fulton Elementary and graduated from Cardington High School in 1957.

Upon graduation, Nancy worked as a bank secretary until she had enough money saved to pay for nursing school at Mt. Carmel in Columbus, Ohio.  After becoming a registered nurse, she went to work for a pediatrician.  While working for the pediatrician, she married Jarrett Jordan on June 27, 1964.  She then took a break from working to start her family.  During this time, she stayed active in medicine by volunteering for a bloodmobile.  Nancy went back to work at Woodside Care Village in Mt. Gilead, Ohio before eventually retiring from Mansfield General Hospital in 2005.  In addition to working as a registered nurse, she also enjoyed volunteering at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield.

Nancy is survived by her husband Jarrett Jordan as well as their three children – Susan Nelson, Terry Jordan, and Marianne Smith – and eight grandchildren.  Nancy is also survived by her brother John Powell and family of Mt. Gilead, Ohio as well as a large and wonderful extended family.

Nancy’s greatest gift was caring and nurturing of children.  She raised three fine children of her own and made sure their eight children had a loving and educational beginning by watching them and guiding them at every opportunity.

Private services were held by Nancy’s family.
