Michael “Mike” T. Crouch
June 13, 1951 ‒ October 19, 2017
Mount Vernon, Ohio
Michael T. “Mike” Crouch, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017, at the Ohio State University Hospitals, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 13, 1951, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the eldest son of Harold and Jackie (Speaks) Crouch. Mike co-operated the family business, Hiawatha & Running Water Golf Course in Mount Vernon.
An accomplished golfer, Mike won many tournaments throughout the state of Ohio. He also served as an officer and director of the Ohio Public Golfers Association (OPGA). Mike was inducted into the OPGA Hall of Fame in 2003, and was the OPGA Senior Honoree for 2006.
Mike was a loving and devoted husband, an adoring father and grandfather, and a great friend to many. He greeted everyone with a smile, a funny story or a joke, and he left all who knew and loved him with enough laughter to last a lifetime. Mike loved his family and friends, golf, good food and the Cleveland Indians; he hated flying, funerals and Ohio winters. An eternal optimist, Mike was also a lifelong Cleveland sports fan, who never gave up hope that he would see his beloved Tribe win the World Series. (He did, however, give up on the Browns some years ago.)
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Ellen (LeFevre) Crouch of Mount Vernon, whom he married September 2, 1972; his daughter, Rachael, of Athens, Ohio; sons David, of Conway, South Carolina, and Brad, of Howard, Ohio; two grandchildren, Julia and Donovan; his mother, Jackie; a brother, Tim (Cindy) of Mount Vernon; and two sisters, Angie Crouch and Nancy Marsell, both of Mount Vernon.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Harold.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Charity of one’s Choice or the The Mike Crouch Memorial Golf Tournament Trust Fund through First Knox National Bank (1 South Main St., Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050). The Trust Fund will award an annual scholarship to a deserving Mount Vernon High School student athlete.
A memorial tribute to Mike will be held after the golf tournament concludes, at approximately 5:00 PM on Saturday, June 16, at Hiawatha Golf Course (901 Beech St., Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050). All guests are invited to share in food and fellowship.
