Michael A. O’Brien “MO”, age 60, of Johnstown passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born May 25, 1953, in Columbus, to James Robert O’Brien and Margaret Yolanda (Impriey) O’Brien.
Mike attended Big Walnut High School and was the owner of Mike’s Auto Service, LLC where he was a master mechanic. He worked hard and partied harder. Being on the Muskingum River was his second home for over 30 years where he had a weekend get-a-way. Boating was in his blood. Mike had a knack for modifying his boats and making them very, very fast.
In addition to being a fun-loving soul, Mike was a devoted, caring husband, a loving father and a best friend to many.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donnilynn of Johnstown; son, Robert (Angela) O’Brien of Delaware; daughter, Heather Williams of Columbus; stepson, Nathan Turner of Worthington; mother, Margaret O’Brien; brother, James Robert (Janelle) O’Brien, II of Worthington; sister, Robin Pound of Lancaster; 5 grandchildren: C.J., Mikayla, Taylor, Brooke, Cameron; two great-grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews, many good friends from the river; and his favorite “Little Bit.”
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 4:00 pm Saturday at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury. No funeral service will be observed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to OhioHealth Hospice c/o OhioHealth Foundation, 180 East Broad Street, Floor 31, Columbus, OH 43215-3707 or to the family for a Memorial Stone at Kobacker House Memory Garden.
