Matthew Wayne Hill

November 03, 1959 ‒ September 05, 2019

Delaware, Ohio
Formerly of Ostrander, Ohio

Matthew Wayne Hill, age 59, of Ostrander, OH, passed away on Thursday September 5, 2019 after a long battle with MS.

Matt was born on November 3, 1959 in Charleston, WV to Richard E. Hill and Peggy Pfalzgraf Hill. In his teens, the family relocated to Delaware, Ohio, where Matt excelled in sports and was a graduate of Delaware Hayes High School and Bowling Green State University. No matter where Matt lived, he made life-long friends.

After graduation Matt was employed by DuBois Chemicals in Cleveland, Ohio, then transferred to Betz Entec, only to return to DuBois Chemicals, and after a merger, became Regional Sales Director for JohnsonDiversey, Inc. for the West Coast and Western Canada, where he received numerous achievement awards. During his career in California, Matt met his wife, Janette, married, and was blessed with two beautiful girls.

Matt was a loving husband and a devoted Father. Wanting to re-connect with family and friends, Matt uprooted his family and moved back to Delaware. He was a spiritual man and loved being involved with his church where again, new friendships were formed.

Matt’s enduring legacy will comprise his character. All the smiles, laughs, handshakes, and hugs. Later in life for all to witness, a fierce devotion and struggle to remain independent with a sense of pride and dignity.

Matt leaves behind his wife Jeanette, daughters Shannon and Taylor; Father Richard Hill; siblings Catherine Farahay, David Stewart, Shayne Rose, and Sloan Emerson; along with many nieces, nephews, and greats. He is proceeded in death by his Mothers Peggy Pfalzgraf Hill and Patricia Stewart Hill; his brother Scott Stewart; and his grandparents Walter and Lillian Hill.

A visitation and service are scheduled for Friday, September 20, 2019 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. with a service being held from 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. at Delaware Christian Church, 2280 West Williams St., Delaware, Ohio 43015. • To the Hill Family, I’m so sorry to hear of Matt’s passing. He was one of the good guys, always nice and polite going through high school. It was nice to become reacquainted with Matt through Jany, when they came back to Delaware.
Jany, I’m sorry I won’t be there for Matt’s service, I am out of town, otherwise I would have been there to give you a hug.
God Bless all of you through this time.

  • I am honored and blessed to have known Matt, I will never forget his kindness, smile and sense of humor. He was such a special person, a beautiful soul!! I was lucky enough to spend a weekend with him, Shayne and Cathy and he welcomed me into his home and treated me just like family and that is a great memory I will always cherish. Matt will never be forgotten and will be sorely missed, my condolences to the entire family. RIP Matt Hill you’re now at peace.

  • God speed Matt. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones. The Hill household was a second home for me during high school and early adulthood (Thank you Mr. Hill). Matt was a good friend and along with Cathy and others, we had some great times. I am blessed to have wonderful memories of those times.

  • Matt, you were a pure joy to all who knew you. I loved caring for you and you treated me and my sister Mary like family; as we did you. You will be forever missed my friend. Fly high buddy, till we meet again. 🙏❤🦋
