Matthew Paul Snoddy, age 39, passed away Friday, November 20, 2020, following an unexpected illness at UH Samaritan Medical Center in Ashland. He was born March 12, 1981, in Wooster, Ohio and was the son of Vernon Snoddy, Cheryl (Renfrew) Snoddy Vocal, step-dad Rudy Vocal, and step-mom Tina Snoddy. He was a 1999 graduate of Lexington High School.

If you were one of the lucky ones to know Matt, he has surely made you laugh and smile. A rare gem in this strange world, he touched the hearts of everyone he loved and everyone he met, as though there were no strangers. He loved others with every fiber of his being and he cared for people coming from all walks of life without judgment.

If you were one of the lucky ones to know him, you’ve likely heard him sing and play guitar. From Grateful Dead covers, to singing about the people and environment surrounding him, he’s surely made you both laugh and cry through his art and music.

He is survived by his partner and love of his life Teaca Lowe of Ashland; step-children Ayanna, Kallie, Skylar, and Christian; and step-grandchildren Isaac, Izzy-D, Paisley, and Hadley; mother Cheryl Vocal of Mansfield; father and step-mom Vernon & Tina Snoddy of Hayesville; sister Chelsea Vocal (Ethan Garver); brothers Eric Snoddy, Tyler Snoddy, and Trevor Snoddy; three step-siblings​; along with numerous friends​​. ​He was a beloved fiancé, son, brother, friend, step-dad, and grandpa through his extended loving family.

Matt was preceded in death by his step-dad, Rudy Vocal; maternal grandparents: Nettie (Renfrew) Lytle, and Paul Renfrew; and paternal grandparents: Allen ​& Loretta Snoddy.

Friends may call Tuesday, December 1, 2020 from 12:00 -2:00 PM and 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Snyder Funeral Homes (2553 Lexington Avenue in Mansfield). Social distancing will be observed and masks are required.
