Mary Ehrick Williams

January 27, 1926 ‒ December 08, 2015

Marion, Ohio

Mary Ehrick Williams passed away peacefully at her home on December 8, 2015 with her family by her side. Mary was born in Bucyrus, Ohio on January 27, 1926 to Harry and Mabel (Sharrock) Ehrick. She was one of seven children, all whom have gone before her. Her husband Bill preceded Mary in death in January of 2013.

The Ehrick family moved to Marion for a few years where she met the love of her life, “Billy” Williams, in third grade. As Mom told the story, she knew even then that she was going to marry him some day. After moving to Findlay, Mary graduated from Findlay High School in 1943 while Bill was left behind but not forgotten. Mary attended Bowling Green University and Bill joined the Army Air Corp during WW II. The flame was still alive and after the war they renewed their friendship. In March of 1947, they ran off and eloped, keeping their secret for three months. Eventually they announced their marriage and spent 66 years together as soul mates.

Mary, also known as Kiki to her grandchildren, is survived by her devoted children, Krista Williams of Columbus, Nancy (Michael) Wall of Flemington, NJ, Scott (Marie) Williams of Overland Park, KS and Steve (Kelly) Williams of Marion; ten grandchildren, Whitney (Steve) Wagner, Brandon (Erica), Kyle (Lindsey), and Carter (fiancé Kristin) Wall, Peter, Carolyn, Ehrick, Erin (fiancé Jerrod), Bailey and Brynn Williams; four great-grandchildren, Hayes and Rhys Wagner, and Mackenzie and Francey Wall.

Mary spent many years enjoying the Tuesday Afternoon Bowling League with her good friends, and was a member of the Child Conservation League and the 20-30 Wives service clubs. One of her loves to which she devoted over 20 years of volunteer service and well over 20,000 hours was with the Marion General Hospital Gift Shop. She not only volunteered taking weekly shifts in the shop, but also was the toy buyer for many years and managed all of the bookkeeping for the shop. Since she had so many grandchildren and loved to spoil them, she just may have been the single largest purchaser of Beanie Babies and stuffed animals in Marion! Mary was an avid reader and a wizard at crossword puzzles and master of jigsaw puzzles. Mary had a wonderful sense of humor and always seemed to have a smile on her beautiful face.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion, OH from 6 PM to 8 PM: Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2 PM Saturday, December 12, 2015 with Pastor Tim Miller officiating. Friends may also visit with the family on Saturday from 1 PM until the time of service. Burial will be in the Marion Cemetery.

If desired, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice, who cared for her so lovingly the past seven months, 685 Delaware Ave, Suite 300, Marion, OH 43302, the Marion General Hospital Foundation, 100 McKinley Park Drive, Marion, OH 43302 or Citizens for Humane Action Animal Shelter, 3765 Corporate Dr. Columbus, OH 43231.
