Mary Alice Starling, 67, Mount Vernon, died at home with her family on October 7 following an extended illness.  She was born in Mount Vernon on September 20, 1951, to the late Ralph D Starling and Elizabeth A Jewell.

Mary graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1969.  She worked at a variety of jobs over the years, including as an electrician and bartender, and enjoyed fine arts, music, cooking, sports cars, and motorcycles.

Mary will be greatly missed by her sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Steve Sheffer, with whom she resided; younger sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Philip DeVol of Marengo; brother and sister-in-law, Jamie and Denise Starling of Mount Vernon; niece Stacey (Sheffer) Bihl of Florida; and nephew and his wife, C. Jay and Adrienne Sheffer of Mount Vernon.   Mary also leaves behind a great-nephew and three great-nieces in Florida.

There will be no calling hours and the funeral service will be restricted to the family.
