Margaret Rachel Fete, PhD., age 65, of Sunbury, passed away December 24, 2011, succumbing to her courageous battle with cancer.
The daughter of the late Russell and Anita Stewart Fete, she was a long-time professor of Modern Romance Languages at Ohio Wesleyan University. Dr. Fete earned her undergraduate degree at The University of Colorado-Boulder, her Master’s Degree at Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT and Middlebury College, Middlebury, VT, and her PhD. at The Ohio State University. She completed post-Doctoral studies at the University Paris-Sorbonne.
An extensive traveler, Dr. Fete studied literature and languages in Francophone Africa, and was a frequent visitor to France, Europe and the Americas.
She leaves behind her children, Tatiana and Will Fete, and her granddaughter, Kimora, the joy of her life. She also leaves behind her sister, Charlene (Frank) Lange and brother, Robert (Jetta) Fete, nieces, Denise (Shawn) O’Neill, Brenda (Rex) Roberts, Myra, Anita and Emma Fete, and grandnephew, Austin Roberts, as well as special cousins, Jean Pierre and Simone Fete of Chamesol, France and their children, Celine, Vincente and Alexandra.
The family would like to thank her many friends for their giving support throughout her life with a special thank you to the Blythes, Mary Ann Linder, Lynette Carpenter, Luddie Hatten, Colin Saxton, Veenusha Santchurn and all those who surrounded her with unwavering support in her time of need. They would also like to thank the Ohio Wesleyan community for their gracious concern and assistance and to reiterate Margaret’s often expressed love of teaching and her students.
Margaret appreciated the efforts of the James Cancer Research Center and the family is most grateful to the compassionate hospice nurses of HomeReach Hospice.
