MANSFIELD: Magdalena Dech, 81, formerly of James Avenue, died Sunday, November 25, 2007 in Crystal Care Center following an extended illness.
She was born May 29, 1926 in Franzfeld, Yugoslavia and came to the US in 1956.
Magdalena was a homemaker and seamstress. She worked for Komito’s Men Store and Montgomery Ward, and also did alterations out of her home. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. More than anything else, she loved her family.
Magdalena was a former member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and was now a member of First Presbyterian Church. She loved reading her German bible and singing. She was very proud of her heritage, and spoke four languages. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Fred J. and Lynn Dech of Mansfield; a daughter and son-in-law Barbara Miu-Miller and her husband Butch of Minster; 6 grandchildren and their spouses Bridgett and Carl Holloman of Columbia, SC, Maria and Tim Sutton of Winston Salem, NC, George and Terri Miu of Sidney, Lawrence and Nicole Miu of Bankok, Thailand, Jonathan Dech of Mansfield and Michael Dech of Newark; 11 great grandchildren; and a sister Eva Giesler of Germany.
Friends may call Thursday, November 29, 2007 from 12 noon to 2 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held at 2 pm. The Reverend Dennis R. Allison will officiate. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
